Clinical Medical Assistant Program at Jack Memorial!

Prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career as a Clinical Medical Assistant with this program!

Assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes: preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. You’ll review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology (including proper lead placements), professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare.

This classroom program consists of 140 hours of classroom lecture and hands-on labs and a clinical externship opportunity* at a local healthcare provider. Once you successfully complete this program, you will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

Classes will be held at the Learning Center @ Jack Memorial in Buxton. Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 6-9:30 p.m. Dates: 2/27/18-6/5/18

Course Contact Hours: 140 hours + Clinical Externship 160 hours

Tuition: $2,599 (Textbooks included) *Clinical Internship: 160 hours

*To be eligible for the clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements.

Explore how your current skills transfer to future opportunities, find education or training you may need (and ways to pay for it), learn about local in-demand jobs and strengthen your resume for a targeted job search. You will complete weekly assignments and connect with the instructor and classmates in on-line discussion boards and conference calls. You will need to go on-line at least twice each week.

Graduates of My Next Career Move are eligible to apply for the University of Maine at Augusta GEN Scholarship, to be used at any UMA location.
