Vintage Grandmother's Fan Block

Fans always have been a popular design motif. The “fan block” quilt has an interesting history. Quilters in Victorian times used silks, satins, and velvets to make this quilt and embellished their design with lace, ribbons, and beads. During the Great Depression, quilters used their scraps to make this popular design. We will be making an elegant, 1930’s Vintage Grandmother Fan Block in just one class! Leave prepared to sew more blocks for the quilt creation of your desire. Supply list available from adult ed office.

6 – 2 ½” strips of coordinating fabric
1 – 9 ½” sq of background fabric
1 – 3 ½” sq of a darker coordinating fabric

Woven Holiday Stocking

Welcome the holidays into your home with this adorable Santa’s stocking! This woven reed project could be that little extra something for friends, neighbors, and gift exchanges. Fill them with candy, small toys, lottery tickets, etc., and you’ll have a wonderful gift! Measuring approximately 5” x 4.5”, it makes a crafty addition to the tree or a wreath.
